Kim Jong Un Pledges Unconditional Support for Putin
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has pledged what he described as “unconditional” support for Russian President Vladimir Putin, signalling a deepening alliance between Pyongyang and Moscow. In a letter to the Russian leader, Kim said he would “unconditionally respect and unconditionally support all your policies and decisions,” adding that his commitment to Russia would be “constant and permanent”. The message, released by North Korea’s state media, was sent in response to a congratulatory letter from President Putin and reflects what Pyongyang called a relationship built on “true comradely relations”. Kim described ties between the two countries as “the most precious ones and pride”, noting that cooperation would continue to expand across different areas. “I have a willingness to be always with you for the sake of you and your Russia,” he said. The statement comes amid growing military and political cooperation between North Korea and Russia. Both countries signed a broad partnership agreement in recent years, including pledges of mutual assistance, as Russia continues its war in Ukraine. Observers say the open show of loyalty from Pyongyang highlights shifting global alliances and may further raise concerns among Western nations already wary of closer ties between the two governments. Neither the Kremlin nor North Korea released the full text of the correspondence, but the remarks made public mark one of Kim’s strongest expressions of support for President Putin to date.
