New Video Fuels Anger After ICE Shooting in Minneapolis as Neighbours Rally for Safety

A new video showing the fatal shooting of a woman by a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis has deepened public anger and renewed scrutiny of federal immigration operations across the country. The incident happened during an ICE enforcement operation in a residential area of the city. The woman, identified by officials as Renee Nicole Good, was inside a vehicle when she was shot by an ICE officer. She later died in hospital. Footage released by authorities and clips recorded by witnesses have spread widely online. The images show a brief and tense encounter before gunfire is heard. ICE officials say the officer acted in self defence, claiming the vehicle posed a threat. Local leaders and community members strongly dispute that account, saying the video does not clearly support the federal version of events. Minneapolis Mayor and state officials have called for a full and transparent investigation. Multiple agencies, including federal and state investigators, are now examining the shooting. Prosecutors have also appealed to the public to submit any videos or information linked to the incident. As the investigation continues, protests have taken place in Minneapolis and other US cities. Demonstrators accuse federal authorities of using excessive force and operating without accountability, particularly in immigrant communities already living in fear of deportation. Alongside the protests, neighbourhoods in Minneapolis are responding in determined ways. Residents are organising to look out for one another, sharing information, escorting vulnerable neighbours and standing together during immigration patrols. Community leaders say the aim is to reduce fear and prevent further tragedy. The shooting has once again placed US immigration enforcement under intense national focus. With more footage emerging and public pressure growing, the case is shaping into a critical test of trust, transparency and the limits of federal power in local communities.
