NYSC Introduces AI and App Development in Major Skills Overhaul
The National Youth Service Corps has taken a decisive step into the digital age, adding artificial intelligence and mobile app development to its revamped Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme. The Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, announced the update in Abuja, saying the move is aimed at preparing corps members for a fast changing job market. According to him, the new focus reflects the realities of a global economy increasingly shaped by technology and innovation. He explained that the redesigned programme will align with the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent initiative, opening doors for corps members to gain practical digital skills and explore remote work opportunities. The NYSC leadership believes the changes will reduce graduate unemployment and encourage young people to build sustainable businesses. Officials say the overhaul is not just about theory, but hands on training that can translate into real income after service. Quietly, the scheme is being positioned as a bridge between national service and the modern workplace.
