NDA Denies Negligence Over Missing Cadet, Opens Fresh Probe
The Nigerian Defence Academy has rejected claims of negligence following the disappearance of one of its cadets, insisting that due process was followed from the moment the cadet went missing. In a statement, the academy said Cadet Stephen SK Gani left the institution without authorisation in April and was subsequently declared absent in line with military regulations. The NDA’s Public Relations Officer, Major Reuben Kovangiya, described reports suggesting official neglect as misleading and inaccurate. He stated that the cadet’s family was informed and that administrative steps, including striking the cadet off strength, were carried out as required. The academy also disclosed that a fresh investigation has been opened to clarify the circumstances surrounding the case. While concerns from the public continue to linger, the NDA maintains that it has acted responsibly and within established rules. For now, the institution says it is focused on uncovering the full facts, as the story quietly refuses to fade from public attention.
