Fans Vandalise Indian Stadium After Messi’s Abrupt Exit.

News Image

Disorder broke out at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata after football fans reacted angrily to the unexpected early exit of Argentine star Lionel Messi during a high profile appearance in India. Thousands of supporters had gathered at the stadium as part of Messi’s visit, expecting a lengthy interaction with the football icon. However, the Inter Miami forward was on stage only briefly before being escorted out under tight security, leaving many fans frustrated. Shortly after his departure, sections of the crowd began vandalising parts of the stadium, tearing seats, throwing objects onto the pitch and damaging event materials. Several fans blamed poor organisation for denying them a clear view of the player despite paying for tickets. West Bengal’s chief minister later apologised over the incident, acknowledging failures in crowd management and event planning. Authorities have ordered an investigation to determine what went wrong and to prevent a repeat. Messi is expected to continue his scheduled visits to other Indian cities, including charity events and youth engagements, even as questions linger over the handling of his Kolkata appearance.
