NYSC Announces January 21 Start for 2026 Batch A Stream I Orientation
The National Youth Service Corps has released the official dates for the 2026 Batch A Stream I orientation exercise, ending weeks of waiting for prospective corps members across the country. In a circular issued from the NYSC Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, the scheme confirmed that the orientation course will begin nationwide on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Registration at the camps will run until Friday, January 23, with midnight of the same day fixed as the official cut off point. The swearing in ceremony is scheduled for Friday, January 23, while the entire orientation programme will formally close on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. The circular, signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Nura Umar, on behalf of the Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, advised prospective corps members to travel safely to their assigned camps and to avoid night journeys. It also noted that only a defined number of registrants will be admitted into each camp due to capacity limits, as management works to ensure a smooth exercise nationwide.
