News Image

‎Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has apologised to Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja for his outburst and other things that led to her withdrawing from presiding over his trial. ‎Kanu apologised at the start of his trial over alleged treason and terrorism before a new judge, James Omotosho of the Federal High Court. ‎Speaking through his lawyer Kanu Agabi who has taken over from Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu says the attack on Justice Binta Nyako was unjustified. ‎Apologies were also rendered to the Prosecution team led by Adegboyega Awomolo and to his own team which he attacked verbally. The IPOB leader subsequently pleaded not guilty to the 7-count charge levelled against him by the Nigerian government. The Court later adjourned the case to 29 April for a full blown trial as it grants accelerated hearing on the grounds that the matter has dragged on for 10 years.
