Serial Murder Suspect and Pastor Arrested in Delta After Chilling Breakthrough
The Delta State Police Command has taken a suspected serial murderer and a pastor into custody following a sequence of discoveries that investigators described as both “disturbing” and “revealing.” The prison escapee, Michael Ezenwai, was arrested after officers traced him to a mobile phone believed to belong to 26-year-old Christabel Egedefe, who was later found dead in her apartment in Agbor. Police spokesperson SP Bright Edafe said officers moved swiftly once the device unexpectedly rang during questioning, allowing the victim’s sister to confirm ownership. “The DPO and his team proceeded to the house of the said Christabel and discovered her dead in her apartment,” Edafe stated, his words cutting through the quiet murmur inside the command headquarters. Faced with the discovery, Ezenwai first attempted to divert suspicion by alleging that Christabel’s father had ordered her murder. He soon abandoned that claim. In a more direct admission, he told police he had broken into her home during a robbery, adding, “I murdered her when she refused to let go of her motorcycle keys, and I also made away with her mobile phones.” Investigators believe the suspect is connected to other violent crimes. According to police findings, he was part of a syndicate alleged to have been involved in the rape and murder of UNIBEN student Uwaila Omorzua in 2020. Ezenwai also confessed to escaping from Oko Correctional Centre during the EndSARS jailbreak of that year, a detail that has renewed scrutiny over unresolved cases linked to fugitives from that incident. In a parallel case unfolding on the same day, officers arrested Pastor Daniel Ololo of the Omega Prophetic Prayer Ministry in Sapele. His detention followed a petition alleging rape, defilement, and coercive sexual conduct against his church members. Police disclosed that the pastor used alarming tactics to manipulate his victims. He allegedly persuaded them that they needed to engage in sexual acts with him for “deliverance,” a claim the authorities described as predatory. Edafe added that investigations revealed the pastor “had carnal knowledge of three sisters of the same mother … the last victim is 17 years old.” Both men remain in police custody, and detectives say their investigations are far from over. The cases have stirred unease across Delta communities, where residents now watch closely as authorities piece together the wider implications of the arrests, each revelation tightening the grip of a story far from its final chapter
