Air Peace Empowers Women in Abia Community Through Aviation-Inspired CSR Initiative

News Image

As part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, Air Peace, West and Central Africa’s largest airline, has taken a step forward in promoting gender inclusion by empowering women in Umuerim Umukparo, a community in Mbala, Abia State. The airline visited the community and presented six return economy tickets to women, allowing them to travel by air to any part of Nigeria. This initiative is part of Air Peace’s broader commitment to inspiring women and encouraging interest in aviation-related careers, including pilots, cabin crew, engineers, and airline management. Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, the Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace, highlighted the importance of gender equality in the airline industry. He explained, “Air Peace is here today in Mbala community to empower women, humanise air travel and demonstrate the power of aviation to transform lives.” He went on to share that the airline’s leadership is an example of gender equality, with women holding key positions, including Vice Chairman, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief of Administration and Finance. “This initiative is not just about flights; it is about unlocking opportunities. Today, a first-time traveler; tomorrow, a pilot or an aviation leader,” Dr. Ndiulo added, emphasising the long-term vision for empowerment. Earlier, Air Peace had celebrated the achievement of Miss Gold Chinyere Ike, the first woman from Umuerim Umukparo to travel by air. Inspired by her story, the airline’s Corporate Communications team visited the village, where they were greeted with celebrations, including drumbeats, the Egede dance troupe, and the joyful community. For Chinyere, the experience was overwhelming, as she said, “I didn’t know what to expect. That you people came to my village just because of me… I’m grateful. The community is so happy.” In a gesture of further appreciation, Air Peace awarded her two complimentary return tickets to any domestic destination of her choice, along with branded souvenirs. Chinyere’s journey is a symbolic milestone for both her and her community, showcasing the airline’s broader mission of making air travel accessible to all Nigerians, regardless of their background. As the airline continues its CSR initiatives, it reaffirms its commitment to uplifting communities and fostering opportunities for ordinary people to achieve extraordinary things.
