Edo State Government Appoints New Chief Press Secretary
In a strategic reshuffle of its communications team, Edo State Government has announced the appointment of Dr Patrick Ebojele as the new Chief Press Secretary to Governor Monday Okpebholo. The move marks a significant change in how the state intends to engage with the public and manage its media relations. Dr Ebojele, previously a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, brings to the role a wealth of experience spanning journalism, public administration, and academia. His career includes stints as Edo/Delta Correspondent for Channels Television and correspondent roles at New Nigerian Newspaper, Champion Newspaper, and Comet Newspapers. The Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, confirmed the appointment in a letter on Thursday, noting that Dr Ebojele’s professional record “reflects the commitment of the present administration to strengthen and deepen the communication channels between the Government and the good people of Edo State, ensuring clarity, transparency, and effective dissemination of Government policies, programmes, and activities.” Dr Ebojele takes over from Fred Itua, who will be reassigned to another position yet to be disclosed. The government expressed appreciation for Itua’s contributions during his tenure, highlighting his role in facilitating public communication over the past year. Observers suggest the appointment signals a renewed focus on transparency and public engagement under Governor Okpebholo’s administration, with Dr Ebojele expected to drive a more proactive media strategy in the coming months.
