NDLEA Seizes Millions of Tramadol Pills and Over Seventy Six Thousand Kilograms of Cannabis in Nationwide Raids
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has carried out a series of coordinated raids across several states, leading to the recovery of more than seven point six million tramadol pills and over seventy six thousand kilograms of cannabis. The operation, which spanned Delta, Imo, Adamawa and other locations, is one of the agency’s largest in recent months. The agency confirmed that its officers in Delta uncovered a warehouse close to Oko market in Asaba, where they seized three million eight hundred and seventy four thousand pills of tramadol and two hundred and fifty two point two litres of codeine syrup. The consignments included tramadol in the two hundred and twenty five milligram and one hundred milligram ranges. Further interceptions followed in Imo, where operatives recovered one million two hundred thousand tramadol tablets. Additional seizures across other states formed part of the combined seventy six thousand two hundred and seventy three kilograms of cannabis reported by the agency. Several suspects were arrested during the operations. NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said the raids were part of ongoing efforts to disrupt drug distribution networks and prevent large scale movement of illicit substances across the country. The agency stated that investigations are continuing and that the arrested individuals will be profiled as part of the next phase of the operation. Officers are also examining the seized materials to determine their routes and intended destinations. The latest development marks a fresh step in the NDLEA’s attempt to dismantle supply chains that have proven resilient in recent years, with the agency signalling that more actions are expected as its surveillance efforts expand.
